Ingredients
- For the Meatballs:
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce (for gluten free, use soy or coconut aminos)
- 1/2 teaspoon Simply Organic® Ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon Simply Organic® Garlic Powder
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup regular or gluten-free breadcrumbs
- For the Teriyaki Sauce:
- 1 cup water, divided
- 1 packet Simply Organic® Teriyaki Marinade Mix
- 1 tablespoon agave nectar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- For the Garnish:
- Simply Organic® Sesame Seeds
- Green onions, sliced or chopped
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- In a medium bowl, add turkey, soy sauce, ginger, garlic powder, egg and breadcrumbs; mix with a sturdy spoon until thoroughly combined.
- Roll meat mixture into balls approximately 1 inch in diameter.
- Place a metal rack on a sheet pan and place meatballs on rack. (This makes crisper meatballs than baking them on the pan surface.)
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, until meatballs reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine 3/4 cup water, Teriyaki Marinade Mix and agave nectar.
- In a small bowl, add remaining 1/4 cup water and the cornstarch, and mix until smooth.
- Increase heat to medium-high, pour cornstarch mixture into saucepan and bring to a boil, whisking, for 2 to 5 minutes, until teriyaki sauce reaches desired thickness.
- Add meatballs to pan and toss with sauce to warm through and coat well.
- Transfer to serving dish and top with green onions and sesame seeds. For an appetizer, serve with a toothpick in each meatball.
