Not sure what to do with kohlrabi, that funny-looking cruciferous cousin to cabbage, broccoli and even kale? With a crisp, slightly spicy bite, kohlrabi is the ideal companion to carrot. In this easy slaw recipe, we pair them with the flavors of nutty sesame and sweet-spicy Frontier Co-op Gochugaru. Try this as a side dish with grilled salmon made with Simply Organic Teriyaki Marinade or our Oven-Baked Garlic Soy Chicken Wings! Directions

  1. Remove the leaves from the kohlrabi. In a food processor or using a box grater, shred carrots and kohlrabi. (Note: if your vegetables are well-washed, no need to peel them first!) Combine in a large bowl.
  2. Drizzle vegetables with sesame oil and rice wine vinegar. Toss to coat.
  3. Sprinkle sugar, salt, gochugaru and garlic over vegetables. Toss to coat.
  4. Top with sesame seed and green onions just before serving. Refrigerate leftovers up to 3 days.
