What is Manuka Honey?

The Manuka tree, a relative to the Tea Tree, grows abundantly throughout New Zealand, often in extremely rugged and remote terrain. When hives are placed in areas where these Manuka trees dominate the landscape, bees feed off the nectar.

The Result? Manuka Honey. This complex honey is a multitasking superfood.

Here are some ways to enjoy Manuka honey:

    –Take a spoonful
    –Add to yogurt, granola or drizzle on toast
    –Pair with cheese or nut butter
    –DIY face masks
    –Use in recipes such as vinaigrettes, smoothies and desserts

Sourcing and Quality

Wedderspoon Manuka Honey is sourced from New Zealand's North and Southern Islands. All of our Manuka Honeys are traceable back to the master beekeeper who harvested and tended to the hive.

This is where our beekeeping partners tend to and transport the hives for harvest. Our Manuka Honey is produced using a raw creaming process to maintain all of the naturally-occurring beneficial wellness properties inherent in this unique functional food. We take pride in harvesting, packaging, and labeling all of our Manuka Honey in New Zealand to ensure we are meeting the highest standards for quality and authenticity.

We are proud to bear the FernMark license on our Manuka Honeys. The FernMark is formal recognition of our role as an ambassador of the New Zealand story and serves as a third party verification that our products are authentically from New Zealand.

To ensure the authenticity of Manuka Honey, New Zealand’s Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) has developed and released a standard to regulate Manuka Honey in New Zealand for worldwide export.

Our Manuka Honey is produced using a raw creaming process to maintain all of the naturally-occurring and beneficial wellness properties inherent in this unique functional food. It's Raw and Unpasturized.

KFACTOR™

Our KFactor methodology goes above and beyond the MPI regulations for Manuka Honey and is comprised of five ‘key factors’ which focus on the holistic qualities of authentic Manuka Honey. We don’t add or take away anything from our Manuka Honey – It's truly hive to home. Both are produced and packed in New Zealand, free of antibiotics, pesticides, glyphosate and GMOs.

KFactor 16, Monofloral Manuka, is our honey that is "wholly or mostly" from the Leptospermum scoparium (manuka) plant.

KFactor 12, Multifloral Manuka, is our honey blend that has a variety of plant sources, but has a significant amount from the Leptospermum scoparium (manuka) plant. As bees have a considerable flight distance and need variety in their diet, a honey will never be 100% one nectar source.
