Origin: The plant is of Asiatic origin. Countries where rose is extensively cultivated for extractive purposes include Bulgaria, Turkey, Morocco, France, Italy, China, Tunisia. It's cultivated extensively all over the world.
Botanical Description: This variety known as rose de mai grows up to 2.5-meter (30 ft) high, with an abundance of large pink or rosy-purple flowers.
Extraction: Concrete is obtained by extracting flowers with petroleum ether. The absolute is obtained by extracting the concrete with ethanol. The absolute is an orange yellow to orange-brown to reddish-orange viscous liquid.
Aroma Profile: Has a rich and sweet top note. The middle note is deep rosy, hone-like, but not overly spicy. The dry out is very tenacious.
Major Constituents: Phenylethyl alcohol (60 to 80%), citronellol, nerol, geraniol, farnesol, linalool.
Adulterants: Frequently with synthetic phenylethyl alcohol, geranium and palmarosa fractions.
