Origin: It grows wild in Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines.
Botanical Description: A tall evergreen tree up to 30-m (90 ft.) high with flexible trunk. Has thick pointed leaves and white flowers.
Oil Extraction: Essential oil is obtained by stem distillation of the leaves and twigs. The oil is clear, colorless to pale yellow, occasionally greenish or turquoise colored mobile liquid. Yield 1.5 to 3.5%.
Aroma Profile: The top note is fresh, powerful camphoraceous-cineolic, eucalyptus like. The body note is camphoraceous, with a fruity-sweet soft undertone. The dry-out is less tenacious, and becomes soft, fruity-sweet.
Major Constituents: 1,8-cineole (50 to 65%), α-pinene (5%), β-pinene, γ-terpinene, α-terpineol, β-caryophyllene.
Adulterants: Camphor oil, eucalyptus oil.
